Board of Zoning Appeals

The function of the Board of Zoning Appeals is to act on those matters where the City Ordinance provides for an administrative review, interpretation, exception or special land use approval and to authorize a variance as defined per city ordinance and the laws of the State of Michigan. The Board of Zoning Appeals does not have the power to alter or change the zoning district classification of any property, nor to make any change in the terms of the ordinance.

Housing Board of Appeals

In order that the provisions of this article may be reasonably applied and substantial justice done in instances where unnecessary hardship would result from carrying out the strict letter of this article, a housing board of appeals is hereby created. The duty of the board of appeals shall be to consider appeals from the decision of the officials charged with the enforcement of this article and to determine in particular cases whether any deviations from the strict enforcement of the article will violate the intent of the article and jeopardize public health and safety.

Michigan Construction Board of Appeals

An application for appeal shall be based on a claim that the true intent of this code or the rules legally adopted thereunder have been incorrectly interpreted, the provisions of this code do not fully apply, or an equally good or better form of construction is proposed.  The board shall have no authority to waive requirements of this code.

Parking Ticket Dismissal

If you feel that a citation would not have been issued if certain facts were known at the time the citation was issued, the Chief of Police may recommend to the Court that the citation be dismissed.  Complete a Parking Ticket Dismissal Request Form.  If you feel that you are not responsible for the parking violation, you may contact the Court Clerk to arrange for a hearing before the 35th District Court, located at 660 Plymouth Road, Plymouth, MI 48170, 734-459-4740.
