City of Northville Police Departments’ Sergeant Andrew Kirby graduates from FBI National Academy

On March 13, 2025, the City of Northville Police Departments’ Sergeant Andrew Kirby graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy, Session 293. Sergeant Kirby is only the third officer in the history of the City of Northville Police Department to be sent to the National Academy.

Sergeant Kirby spent 10 weeks in Quantico Virgina with 243 other law enforcement officers from 48 states and the District of Columbia. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from 24 countries, 11 military organizations, and four federal civilian organizations.

The FBI National Academy is known for their academic excellence. The Academy offers 10 weeks of leadership, advanced communication, and fitness training. Typically, Academy participants have an average of 21 years of experience and return to their agencies to serve in the executive level positions. Only participants who have a proven record as professionals with their agencies are able to attend the Academy.

Throughout the program, Many FBI instructors and special agents provide training. A total of 55,941 graduates have completed the FBI National Academy since it began in 1935. The National Academy is held at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, the same facility where the FBI trains their new special agents and intelligence analysts.

“I was honored to be there,” said Sergeant Kirby. “It was an outstanding experience. I met people from all over the world, 48 states and 24 different countries, so the networking was just incredible. I don’t have enough words to express how much I appreciate the opportunity to attend.”
