City Clerk Overview

The City Clerk's Office maintains files and records including the Code of Ordinances and Zoning Ordinance, resolutions, contracts and other legal documents, City Council minutes and other board and commission minutes, and Legal notices

The Clerk's Office processes and issues various permits and licenses that include dog licenses, business licenses, peddler and solicitor permits, food truck registrations, outdoor dining permits, and massage establishment licenses.

The City Clerk is responsible for the administration of all Elections held in the City.

The Clerk also serves as the clerk to the City Council, keeping a permanent record of the City Council proceedings; recording secretary to the Liquor License Review Committee; recording secretary to the Board and Commission Selection Committee; and the Election Commission chairperson.

The City Clerk is the Freedom of Information Act Coordinator, and the Administrative supervisor of the Building Department, and Planning and Zoning Services.

Since the passage of Public Act 480 in 2006 the MPSC has been charged with many responsibilities with regards to video/cable services and providers. Among these is receiving and helping to resolve inquiries and complaints between consumers and video/cable providers.
